The Boston producer, BillyIV, sent to this email recently. I was digging it from track one, it wavers on the line of chill, never fully mellowing all the way out. In a sense, it has a slight hint of ADD in it, and I like that. Also all the samples were pretty unique to my ears.

LAKIM – Reinterpretations
Potholes In My Blog and LAKIM teamed up to put out this upbeat batch of remixes. I think attempting to remix any song is an admirable feat, but taking on the likes of Badu, Bun B, and Jill Scott takes some extra guts. I can appreciate the job he did, judge for yourself below.
Layerface – cassette dreams
This project is aptly named, it’s ideal for an almost trance like state of relaxation. It brings that gritty lo-fi sound over a laid-back landscape, a delicate balance of minimalism and creativity. Even though most of the songs hover between that 1:00 to 2:00 minute mark it doesn’t come off as choppy or disjointed. Check out more from this artist on soundcloud.
Soulection – Time In Between
Anytime Soulection puts together a project you can be sure you’re getting a gathering of talented and eclectic producers. It’s something of a trademark of theirs. This time that means Teebs, Lakim, Ta-ku, Evil Needle, Sango, and still more.
ILL.SUGI – fixation
The first time I heard any material from Japanese producer, ILL.SUGI, was on a Pragmatic Theory compilation tape. He hasn’t disappointed me with anything he’s dropped since then. He definitely knows how to establish a vibe and maintain it. This project reassures me of that.
Kaytranada – Holy Hole Inna Donut (Official Video)
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been bumping Kaytranada’s KAYTRA TODO routinely since it dropped earlier this year. This joint in particularly gets the head nodding effortlessly. Also shoutout to the jai alai highlights used for the visuals, international sports are intriguing to say the least.
Chuck Inglish – Drops
It’s no secret that Chuck Inglish is a production magician, sage of the subwoofer smacking beats and whatnot. Keeping up with that tradition, he dropped the single off his upcoming mixtape, Droptops. Bump this in the whip, or wherever speakers are available. And be on the lookout for his album which drops after the tape, Convertibles.
